Knox County Fair Queen Pageant Crowns its Queen

The 2018 Miss Knox County Fair Queen was crowned last night at the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg. Seventeen year old Montana Bernett of Galesburg took the Fair Queen Crown, 13-year old Makaiha Moore of Knoxville was crowned Junior Miss, and 6-year old Laney Wunder of Dahinda was crowned Little Miss. Between sharing personal stories, dances, answering questions, and telling the crowd plans for their future, there were plenty of cheers from the crowd. Seventeen Little Miss contestants aged 5-7 competed, 10 Junior Miss contestants aged 11-13, and 8 Miss Contestants aged 17-20. Bernett, who plans on studying Physical Therapy at Illinois State University in the fall tells WGIL she’s been in pageants since she was five years old, and is excited about competing at the Illinois State Fair. The Knox County Fair gets underway next week: “We are going out to the fair attending the hog shows and the 4-H fair,” Bernett said. “We’ll be out at the grandstand events every night, so everyone should come out and support.”  The 168th Annual Knox County Fair gets underway next Monday, July 9th in Knoxville with Harness Races.
