Galesburg man arrested on gun charges

A Galesburg man was arrested this weekend on a pair of gun charges.

Officers stationed on W. Main Street near Garfield Avenue observed a vehicle with a loud exhaust drive on to the roadway.

According to police reports a traffic stop was conducted and a officers were made aware that the driver, 32-year-old Raymond C. Brunidge had a suspended license.

He was arrested and the vehicle was searched as part of the inventory process.

A loaded 9mm pistol was found on the floor boards. Officers checked and found it had a loaded magazine and a round was in the chamber.

Brunidge denied it belonged to him but told officers his prints would be found on it.

As he was a felon, he was charged with a charged with a Class 3 Felony of possession of a weapon, and Class 4 unlawful use of a weapon.

Additionally he was cited for having only one red tail light, for driving on a suspended license, and for the loud/defective exhaust.
