Movies, workshops, and plenty of Easter-themed events for the holiday weekend

Has Spring Break been a bit…much? 

The Discovery Depot Children’s Museum in Galesburg is offering parents a chance for a night out.

Starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday drop the kids off at Discovery Depot for Coco themed activities and snacks. The cost is $10 and $5 per sibling – kids can watch Pixar’s CoCo and parents aren’t required to stay.

Friday night is Music Trivia Night for Relay for Life of Knox County. Registration starts at 6:00 p.m. – trivia starts at 7:00pm at the Abingdon American Legion.

The cost is $120 per team at the door or $15 for an individual – with 10 people per team. There will also be a bake sale, 50/50, and silent auction.

Discovery Depot will be hosting a Toddler Egg Hunt at the Depot Saturday.

Toddlers 5 and under can hunt for eggs beginning at 9:00 a.m. – the cost is $2.50 for members and $4.00 for non-members.

Later, Saturday evening starting at 7:30 p.m., Discovery Depot will be hosting a Glow Party and Flashlight Egg Hunt at the Depot.

Bring your flashlights for the annual hunt, the cost is $5 and is intended for kids ages 6 and up.

Saturday morning starting at 10:00 a.m. until noon, a 4-H Scrapbooking Workshop is being held at the Knox County Extension Office.

4-H members from Knox, Henderson, Warren and McDonough counties will receive beginner sessions on cropping, journaling and placing photos.

Attendees are encouraged to bring 8 to 10 photos about one topic of choice and advanced scrapbooking sessions will be held as well – the cost is $5.

If you missed out on last weekend’s Easter egg hunts, head to Maquon on Saturday morning starting at 10:00 a.m. Held in the Maquon Park, children up through 5th grade can hunt for eggs filled with candy and prizes.

A special screening of a film in honor of Vincent Van Gogh’s birthday will be presented at the Galesburg Orpheum Theatre tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. “Loving Vincent” is the world’s first fully painted film.

Over 65,000 frames on over 1,000 canvases – 6 years in the making telling the story of Van Gogh’s little-known life as an artist before his mysterious death – now one of the most famous artists in the world. Admission is $5 the event is co-hosted by the Galesburg Civic Art Center.
