Knox County man charged for threatening with shotgun

23-year-old Braden Mallery is charged with felony discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault for an incident on Tuesday.

Knox County prosecutors say Mallery had gotten into a physical altercation with a male relative and at some point fired a shotgun in the air, in the vicinity of two females.

Knox County Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops says after the shot, Mallery “indicated he was going to kill everyone and himself.”

Deputies were able to locate Mallery, the firearm and a shell casing.

He admitted in court he does not have a FOID card.

Mallery is currently scheduled to go to trial in Henry County next month on a charge of felony possession of meth, less than 5 grams.

He is also scheduled for a pre-trial next month in Knox County for a similar incident last year, in which he aimed a pistol at a relative and damaged a vehicle.

Bond in Mallery’s latest case was set at $50,000 Wednesday afternoon.
