Thrushwood Farms receives national recognition in competition

The American Cured Meat Championships – a yearly event held in Kansas City, Missouri recognized a local business with a handful of awards. Members of the American Association of Meat Processors enter their products for evaluation by judges who are meat specialists in the industry. Of the 678 entries in 29 product classes from across the country, Thrushwood Farms Quality Meats in Galesburg came home with a slew of awards. Entries are judged on aroma, flavor, eye appeal, and texture. Thrushwood Farms walked away as Grand Champion for Ham Bone-In Lightweight Class, Reserve Grand Champion for Small Diameter Hot Link Sausage Class, and Champion for Ham Bone-In Heavyweight Class, Smoked Turkey Class, and BBQ Sausage. 67 AAMP membership plants participated in the competition. Chris Young, Executive Director of the American Association of Meat Processors said in a statement: “On behalf of AAMP and our leadership, we congratulate Thrushwood Farms Quality Meats for their outstanding accomplishment.” Thrushwood Farms is a member of AAMP – the largest trade organization representing small business in the meat industry in the nation.
