Galva Arts Council raises half of goal in a month to fund concert series

The Galva Arts Council is now over half-way to their fundraising goal of $25,000 to bring a concert series to the town.

This is only about a month after the Arts Council announced that they had been chosen by the Levitt Foundation to hold community concerts aimed at boosting community pride and bringing people together through music.

The council says throughout the series which will run from Memorial Day weekend to July 29, donations will be accepted.

However, they remind that only donations received before Mar. 18 can be applied towards a matching grant from the Levitt Foundation.

They do have a series of events coming up to raise money and perhaps some spirits at the same time.

For example, they’ll have a Whiskey of the World tasting as local whiskey historian Brian “Fox” Ellis guides guests through the finer points of fine Irish, Scotch and Bourbon whiskeys.

The whiskey tasting is Mar. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

A full list of events can be found at galvaartscouncil.org and there you can find how to donate towards putting on these concerts.
