Bustos breaks with party leadership to vote for federal spending plan

Lawmakers in Washington were able to reach a bipartisan budget agreement on Friday that will put and to end squabbles for now, at least over short term funding bills. The bill had more Republican support than Democratic but plenty of Grand Old Party members objected, largely due to $300 billion in new spending which will send the yearly deficit up to $1 trillion. House Minority Nancy Pelosi urged Democratic House members to vote against the bill due to Dreamers protected under DACA. But Congresswoman Cheri Bustos broke with Pelosi and 119 of her Democratic colleagues to vote for passage. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says a procedural vote on DACA is set for Monday.
