City of Galesburg to take control of Connie Nott Canine Area

The City of Galesburg will soon be taking control of the Connie Nott Canine Area located within Inbinder Park on Carl Sandburg Drive.

The park was funded by Project Dog Park – a group of community members who took the initiative to open a dog park within the city.

According to a press release from the City of Galesburg, Project Dog Park decided “to turn the leash over to the City” for the day to day operations of the dog park.

That was after the group had been maintaining the fenced in park for the last three years. Members of Project Dog Park had been volunteering their time to maintain the landscape and enhance the space.

The park will remain open to the public as an enclosed, off-leash dog park.

Connie Nott Canine Area opened to the public in 2014, as a place where dog owners could take their four-legged friends for for fresh air and exercise.

The dog park is located within Inbinder Park on across from the main Galesburg YMCA.
