New Knox County Farm Bureau Director talks memberships and more.

Hailey Weyhrich is still settling in to her new position as Executive Director of the Knox County Farm Bureau.

The Manito native knew she always wanted to devote her career to the farming community. After completing 12 weeks in the Farm Bureau Trainee program, the University of Illinois grad interviewed for the Knox County position. Weyhrich says she appreciated the legacy of the Knox County Farm Bureau – and the benefits of being a Knox County member. “There are multiple reasons the farmers and even consumers should join,” Weyhrich said. “We actually just had a couple more membership benefits added, with John Deere and Ford. Being a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau, you get the advantages of being a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau. They’re constantly trying to not only improve the farm family life, but economic income in Illinois. So there are many advantages of being a farm bureau member.” Those advantages include: discounts on prescription medications, incentives for new vehicle purchases, farm implement and machinery incentives, and free publications, subscriptions and seminars. Membership dues is where most farm bureau offices receive their funding. For upcoming events, seminars and membership information, farmers and consumers can visit www.knoxcfb.org.
