Candidates for Galesburg mayor, alderman and treasurer face off in Monday forum

With just a little over three weeks until Election Day for municipal races in Galesburg, voters will have a chance to hear candidates in a forum on Monday. The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event at The Orpheum Theatre. Participants will include candidates for races including Galesburg Mayor, 6th ward alderman, Galesburg Treasurer and Marc Rudolph will give a presentation of the referendum to create a 708 board of mental health.

Some uncontested candidates will be available for at a reception from 5 to 6 p.m. including City Clerk Kelli Bennewitz, Stephen Daly for Township Supervisor and Tonwship Supervisor Christine Winnick. WQAD Channel 8’s John David will moderate the proceedings that has Q’s Cafe Owner Walt McAllister pitted against incumbent Mayor and owner of Galesburg Broadcasting which WGIL is a part of, John Pritchard. Incumbent 6th Ward Alderman Wayne Allen is being contested by Chris King and Torry Carnes. Finally running for Treasurer is Elisha French against Jerry Reynolds.
