Local reverend experiences Noah’s Ark up close

Rev. Leigh Nygard made a trip recently…all the way back to biblical times. In Williamstown, Kentucky, at the midpoint between Cincinnati and Lexington, sits a wooden ark.

It’s a replica of the one that Noah was said to have built in The Bible.

Nygard traveled recently to witness the 5,600 ton structure built with the same dimensions that God gave Noah to build the biblical ark.

The exhibit, an extensive of Ken Hamm’s Creation Museum, not only gives people a chance to lay eyes on what the ark might have actually looked like but teaches the history and religion of the ark and flood.

Nygard tells Galesburg Live on WGIL the inside of the boat actually has three stories.

“The third story was the living quarters of the people, which to me was fascinating,” Nygard says. “Then the second and first stories were where the animals were housed with various walkways where you stand in line to see the various exhibits. Besides being immense it was beautiful.”

Construction cost around $100 million to build the ark, in fact it was about $6 million for just the parking lot.

Nygard got an early look at this tourist destination.

It only opened in July 5.
Nygard says the attraction is an evangelical ministry but museum staff don’t hit guests “over the head with preaching.”
