SFC Kyle B. Wehrly Memorial Highway Designation Ceremony

A street dedication ceremony will honor Sgt. 1st Class Kyle B. Wehrly of “C Battery 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery,” located in Galesburg. The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at the Public Square in Galesburg. If inclement weather forces a change of location, the ceremony will be held at the Galesburg National Guard Armory, 362 N. Linwood Road, Galesburg, Illinois.

The dedication route starts at Main and Henderson streets in Galesburg (Route 150) and ends at the Knoxville, Illinois, city limits (Route 150). Color guard will be provided by the Illinois Army National Guard.

Speakers at the event include Brigadier General Williams, Colonel (Retired) Wise (emcee), Lieutenant Colonel Miles, State Senator Mike Halpin, Mayor Peter Schwartzman and Representative Dan Swanson. Invocation and benediction will be given by Pastor Peter Wehrly, Kyle’s father.
