Meet May’s KFM Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to May’s KFM Teacher of the Month – Molly Maaske — a Science teacher at Lombard Middle School in Galesburg. Molly was nominated by Brooklynn Knott, who is a student in Molly’s class.  As KFM’s Teacher of the Month, Molly receives the Big Red Apple Award along with a $100 gift card and other gifts courtesy of Galesburg Nissan, Tompkins State Bank, Lacky Monuments, Cooks & Company, and 105.3 KFM. Here’s a little bit about Molly:

Where did you grow up? Knoxville
Years teaching:
16
Favorite part of teaching
Besides the kids and their families,  I love that each day is a fresh start and a new beginning/journey!  I love that I get to create the vibe of my work environment/classroom.  I love watching my students grow and learn each day.  While they learn, I get to learn too…it is a win win!  I love getting to celebrate their successes with them!  I love being a safe place for my students to make mistakes and teach them that “mistakes are proof that they are trying and that the biggest mistake they can make is being afraid to make one.”  I love having a job where I laugh and smile every single day!
Favorite subject growing up

Favorite subject to teach when it comes to Science:
ecosystems, matter, space, and weather.
Favorite Food:
veggie burgers and tofu.
Least Favorite Food:
meat products since I am a vegetarian. 🙂
Favorite Movies:
Little Mermaid, Moana, Matilda, and Remember the Titans.
Favorite TV Shows:
Chicago Med, This is Us, Holey Moley, and New Amsterdam.
Favorite Sports Team:
Chicago Blackhawks, North Carolina Tarheels, and Chicago Bears.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to hang out with my husband and three kids.  I love to go on adventures and live each day to the fullest even if it means making a huge mess!  I love to be outdoors and love camping!
Something about me that you may not know:
I am a vegetarian, but I love to fish!

Here’s what Brooklynn had to say about Molly:

What sets this teacher apart from others?
She is kind and treats all of her students with respect and she also respects people’s boundaries.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
One thing she does is get us prizes and class pets.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child.
It has been by letting them do things on their own time and being the best and funniest teacher they have.

Once again, congratulations Molly Maaske for being named May’s KFM Teacher of the Month from Galesburg Nissan, Tompkins State Bank, Cooks & Company, Lacky Monuments and 105.3 KFM

Congratulations Molly Maaske
