UPDATE: Officials said the 911 system was operational again as of Friday morning. A cut fiber line was to blame.
ORIGINAL STORY: The City of Galesburg says Galesburg/Knox County Public Safety is experiencing phone issues Thursday afternoon.
They say this problem may impact calling 911.
Until further notice, any callers experiencing problems calling 911 should try the back-up phone numbers to the Public Safety Building of:

This is the second time in 2020 phone issues have reared their head for the Knox County 911 system after it happened in July.
It’s not clear that Thursday’s problems are the same that existed in July.
Back then several landlines connected to businesses and homes were believed to have been affected.
