On Saturday, October 3rd, just before 11:00 am, Galesburg Police were dispatched to Singh’s laundromat on Grand Avenue in reference to a theft of a motor vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, the caller told officers she went into the laundromat to start a load, and when she came back outside, a male subject was driving off in her SUV down Mulberry Street, according to police reports. While talking with witnesses in the area, dispatch advised officers that a report came in of a man getting in front of another motorist and trying to take his vehicle while on Mulberry Street. And while speaking with THAT individual, dispatch told officers that Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies had the subject in custody.
While on a medical call at Country Elms Estates, sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the stolen vehicle – which was driving erratically through yards and around turns in Country Elms. Deputies were able to apprehend 33-year old Randy Wilson of Galesburg after he finally surrendered on a property on Knox County Highway 10. Sheriff’s Deputies advised GPD that Wilson was being charged on Driving on a Revoked License and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Police charged Wilson with Theft of a Motor Vehicle with an October 28th court date.
