United High School staff member tests positive for COVID

Some students and staff members of United High School may be quarantined for two weeks.

It was announced yesterday by Principal Amy Schmitz and District Nurse Krista Burns that the staff member was positive and contact tracking was beginning.

To prevent further spread of the virus, the high school was also placing staff members and students that were identified as being in prolonged contact with the COVID-positive case in quarantine for two weeks.

Those students and staff would be monitored for signs of symptoms of the illness and evaluation of illness reports in hopes of identifying possible outbreaks.

The school says deep cleaning and disinfecting of the areas impacted by potential exposure to the virus will also be done, including continued sanitization of high-touch surfaces.

The school says that they’ll continue to enforce safe practices to prevent, identify, and respond to positive COVID cases.
