There’s a new spin on this year’s Doggie Jog. The Doggie Car Ride for the Knox County Humane Society is Saturday, September 12th. Drive around the shelter with your dog and see the new outside area for dogs and cats from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Rick Cross will take photos of pets from cars and the Humane Society will pass out treats and t-shirts. Register at the Human Society on Windish Drive.
The Galesburg Public Library continues its September Saturday Book Sales Saturday, September 12th from noon until 4:00 pm. Each Saturday in September a used book sale is being held with the Friends of the Library. The sale will be held in the parking lot and will feature a selection of books about religion, cooking, health, how-to, romance, and nature.
The Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter is hosting a Drive-Thru Hog Roast Saturday, September 12th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The menu includes roasted pork, baked beans, fruit, potato salad, and more. The cost is a $7 donation for adults and a $3 donation for those 12 and under.
The West Central Illinois Out of the Darkness Experience is Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lake Storey. Join in to help fight against suicide. Participants will be able to drop-off donations, get their shirts, beads, and more. You will be assigned a time to arrive to ensure small groups and safety protocols. After pick-up, participants can walk in small groups at the park, in your own neighborhoods, or anywhere you choose. Hidden Hills Vineyard and Winery is hosting its 2nd Annual Wine & Wheels Jeep Show Saturday, September 12th. Registration begins at 11:00 am, the Jeep Show is from noon until 3:00 pm, with awards at 2:30 pm. The event will feature live music from Jera and the Absolutes, Henn House BBQ, and drink specials.
