Man and woman arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle

Last Thursday, August 27th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the Holiday Inn Express on a call from the East Moline Police Department for a check on a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, GPD located the vehicle – a blue 2011 Chevrolet Traverse – in the parking lot. The vehicle was still running, a male subject was asleep in the driver’s seat – a female passenger asleep in the passenger seat. GPD made contact with the occupants: 32-year old Brent Murray of Galesburg and 24-year old Kayla Mowry of Decatur, and the two were placed under arrest. According to police reports, as officers began an inventory of everything inside the vehicle, officers located numerous wallets, purses, and credit cards belonging to other people. Officers also located a receipt from Walmart in Galesburg – were several credit cards were used to make purchases – many of the cards were declined. In addition, officers also located three notices to appear for both Murray and Mowry – the two had been arrested the day before for unlawful possession of a vehicle and unlawful possession of a license plate. Both Murray and Mowry were transported to the Knox County Jail, under arrest for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
