The City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Division is hosting a new evening nature program on Friday, August 28th. A Nature at Night: Moonlight Paddle is being held at Lake Storey Beach tonight from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. You can bring your own kayak or rent one for a moonlit tour around Lake Storey guided by staff Naturalists. All ages are welcome, those under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult. The Farmington Moose Lodge will be hosting its annual car show Saturday, August 29th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The event will feature music, food, and all ages are welcome.
Live from the Orpheum Theatre continues on Sunday, August 30th with Soultru. Soultru is a hip-hop/soul band based out of the Quad Cities. Lead singer Terrance Banks combines poetic lyrics and a soulful sound and multi-instrumentalist Cadence Graham completes the duo to bring a cool groove and impressive, inventive sound that is Soultru. A suggested ticket purchase of $8.00 is requested to support the series and the performing artists. While patrons will not be able to take their seats in the theatre itself, purchasing a ticket and tuning in to the concert will congregate an online audience that will hopefully bring the vibrancy and ambiance of The Orpheum Theatre into the comfort of home.
