City employees test positive for COVID-19

The City of Galesburg announced Friday that several staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, and City Hall will be closed to the public for a one-week.

The closing will allow for deep cleaning and sanitization, although the Public Safety Building lobby will stay open for normal hours.

They expect to reopen to public traffic by Monday, August 24, 2020.

The City is working in partnership with the Knox County Health Department, and per the typical protocol for all COVID-19 cases, the Health Department is conducting contact tracing.

City Manager Todd Thompson says he wants to “assure community members that it continues to be safe to utilize City services.
“We are proactively being transparent while taking all possible precautionary measures to ensure that we can continue to provide necessary services to residents in a safe manner.”
