Ritchie hired as new principal of GHS North

Galesburg High School North has a new building principal, a 1995 graduate of GHS, Mindi Ritchie.

Ritchie was hired at Monday night’s school board meeting to fill the open position.

In a statement from the district, Superintendent Dr. John Asplund said, “Mindi Ritchie has proven herself to be a dedicated educator who brings particular expertise in the area of Social-Emotional Learning.  As the district continues on the path of a focus on educating the whole child, we are in need of a leader who specializes in this area.  We are very confident that Mindi is the right person at the right time for this challenge,”

After high school, she earned a Bachelors’s degree in Psychology and Spanish in 1999 from Knox College, then pursued a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton in 2003.

She was a Licensed Professional Counselor at Bridgeway in Galesburg and eventually became the Director of Child and Adolescent Services.

Ritchie would eventually get her Professional Educator Licenses in School Counseling and School Administration from Bradley University, she was hired as the Career and Technical Education Coordinator for GHS in 2009.

In her tenure with District 205, Ritchie has led a strength-based approach to empower those she serves to facilitate changes on many different levels.

Most recently, the 1995 GHS graduate was developing and leading both a comprehensive mental health program as well as the district-wide Social and Emotional Learning Program.
