The Galesburg Community Foundation has doled out another round of funds for local non-profits providing front-line services or services to communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
They don’t divulge how much was released in this round but they are announcing that the fund has raised a total of $347,000 and to date has disbursed around $224,000.
This latest round has seven non-profits receiving funds. The fund started with an initial $145,000 from a host of local philanthropic foundations.
Among those are the Carl Sandburg College Foundation, and Knox College Student Fund, both designed to give emergency assistance to students at the respective schools.
Also receiving dollars in the third round are organizations focused on emergency food assistance, wellness checks for seniors, assistance with rent and utility bills, and homeless prevention.
Those groups include VNA Community Services, United Way, Safe Harbor, Salvation Army, and the Jamieson Center.
President of the GCF Josh Gibb says local philanthropy is still hard at work in Knox and Warren counties during this difficult time.
