Galesburg man arrested for DUI early Monday morning

Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Pearl Street around 6 a.m. Monday for a well-being check on a subject believed to be passed out behind the wheel of a truck. Upon arrival, officers observed 23-year old Dimitri Orozco behind the wheel of the truck parked partially in the roadway. Several beer cans were seen in the bed of the truck. Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service paramedics examined Orozco before he refused any medical treatment. When asked what year it was, Orozco responded, “2018?” He admitted to drinking the night before, and after some initial field sobriety tests, Orozco refused further testing and was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. After being placed in custody, it was discovered that Orozco’s driver’s license had been expired since June of 2018. He was then cited for aggravated DUI – no valid drivers license with an initial court date scheduled for August 26th and taken to the Knox County Jail.
