Clean Up Downtown Day still looking for volunteers.

The Galesburg Downtown Council is gearing up for its 5th annual Clean Up Downtown Day this Saturday, July 11th. Last year over thirty volunteers and sixteen businesses worked together and moved throughout the downtown picking up debris and waste. Volunteers last year worked from the Southside of the downtown on Tompkins street and made their way north to Ferris canvassing every parking lot, sidewalk, street, and alleyway in between. The Downtown Council is still looking for volunteers for this year’s event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves and any tools needed to help pick up trash and debris. Social distancing will be emphasized, masks are required, and hand sanitizer will be available. Volunteers will meet behind Foster Insurance Agency on Saturday morning at 350 East Simmons Street. All trash collected should be brought back to 350 East Simmons for disposal. The event is expected to last from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
