Roadwork coming to Illinois 116 in Warren County

A stretch of highway in Warren County to the east of Roseville is getting some work over the summer.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced this week that resurfacing of Illinois Route 116 from the Knox County line to Township Road 154, otherwise known as 115th Street, will be starting Monday, June 12.

IDOT says that the two-mile stretch southeast of the Massasauga Prairie Nature Preserve and running to the north of Greenbush in Warren County will see work requiring intermittent daytime lane closures, expected to run into August.

Motorists traveling through can expect delays so the transportation department says to allow for extra time for trips through this area or avoid the area if feasible.

Drivers are encouraged to pay attention to changed conditions, obey posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
