Knoxville family’s home sustains heavy damage in fire

Officials with the Knoxville Fire Protection District say a family home in Knoxville sustained heavy damage in a Tuesday night fire.
They say there were no injuries.

Knoxville fire personnel tell WGIL they responded to the 800 block of Market Street after being called in by a neighbor, and found the whole front of the house in flames.

Flames were put out by about 16 Knoxville firefighters in 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire could not be determined although they said it started on the front porch.

A GoFundMe was established to support the Jacobs’ family, whose home was damaged in what fire officials believe is in the $15,000- $20,000 range.

Already nearly $3,000 had been raised as of Wednesday afternoon.

The family is that of Gabe Sharp, a young boy who the community has rallied around in recent years as he underwent surgery for a brain tumor and has fought cancer.
