Knox College postpones June commencement ceremony

Knox College announced on Friday that they are postponing this year’s commencement ceremony because of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
President Teresa Amott wrote in a letter to the Knox community that they hope to host an on-campus ceremony in early August, depending on public health measures at that time.

Other area colleges postponed their graduation ceremonies week ago, albeit Knox’s academic calendar puts their commencement at a later date than Carl Sandburg, Monmouth or Western Illinois University.

Amott says it’s “vitally important to recognize the achievements of the graduates”, and she says given the challenges they face, the Knox Class of 2020 will be a class like no other.

Members of the Class of 2020 are working with Knox officials to create ways to celebrate graduates’ accomplishments in June in another fashion.

In the meantime, you can share a message of congratulations to graduates-to-be by emailing communications@knox.edu.
