9th Circuit reduces court operations until further notice

The 9th Judicial Circuit says their courts will remain open for now but several scheduled court proceedings will be delayed to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Chief Circuit Judge David L. Vancil Jr. issued an order Monday to postpone hearings on civil matters, family cases and misdemeanors and other types of hearings.

Criminal felony matters, situations with individuals in custody, and petitions for orders of protection are some example of hearings that will continue.

The 9th Circuit which includes Knox, Warren, Fulton, and Henry counties, also will be taking precautions to keep courts safe.

Attorneys and other parties should consider calling opposing attorneys or the circuit clerk’s office if they’re displaying symptoms.

Anyone summoned for jury service should contact the circuit clerk to tell them if they are feeling ill.

Generally, the court remains open to the public but anyone experiencing symptoms of acute respiratory illness should not come to court facilities.
All probation, detention, and court services facilities remain open.

Probationers should contact their probation officer over the phone and follow their instructions.
