Wellness care program partnership available for GPD

There’s a wellness program coming to local police officers and dispatchers. The Galesburg Police Department has partnered with Nationwide Chaplain Services and 10-41 Incorporated to provide the program that specializes in taking care of emergency responders exposed to a variety of levels of stress. Officers and dispatchers oftentimes deal with cases involving graphic violence, tragedies involving children, and witnessing the onslaught of emotions that survivors and families of victims express. Galesburg Police Chief Russ Idle said, “We believe this service is critical going into the future and are happy to be able to provide this support to our officers.” Through Nationwide Chaplain Services, law enforcement professionals have the ability to connect with counselors, chaplains, and wellness training on topics such as resilience, emotional intelligence, and perspectives. Chaplains will ride with the officers and be available for on-scene incidents and provide critical notifications and care to the community in times of untimely deaths. The NCS provides comprehensive certified Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) services like debriefing, defusing, discussion and aftercare to Emergency Responders throughout times of distress – while on or off the job. You can learn more at Nationwide Chaplain Services online.
