ROWVA’s Johnson wins “Making IT Happen” award

A local educator recently received an award for her commitment to innovation.

ROWVA’s Traci Johnson last week, was an honoree of the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance “Making IT Happen” award.

The Illinois Digital Educators Alliance is an affiliate of the International Society for Technology in Education.

Deserving members are nominated and approved by the members of the IDEA Executive Board.

Johnson has been teaching English for the past ten years, but this past year has been her first year focusing half on English, and half on being an Instructional Coach.

“It’s my dream job. Being able to stay in the classroom and teach but also get to work with other teachers and students from 7-12. It’s been an overall win. This whole year, it’s been awesome.”

There is a write-in process and letter of recommendation that Superintendent Joe Sornberger submitted for Johnson to be considered.

“One of the things we try to do is give recognition when recognition is due and this is one of the ways we can do that.”

The Making IT Happen award was presented during the annual IDEAcon conference held last week in Schaumburg.
