Knox College President, Teresa Amott, announces retirement plan

Knox College announced on Monday that their President Teresa Amott plans to retire at the end of next school year.

Amott says she informed the board of trustees of her plans at their meeting in February.

Amott was hired to lead the historic liberal arts college in 2011.

She explains that while she and her husband Ray have come to love Galesburg as a home she says, “it is time for us—as we enter our seventies—to return east to our home in the Pennsylvania forests and to our family and friends there.”

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Chuck Smith says Amott has been a “transformational president.”

Amott is the only woman to ever serve as the president of Knox College.
She will continue as president until June 2021.
