Sandburg Nursing Program receives donation from Cottage Hospital

The Carl Sandburg College nursing program has replaced some outdated equipment thanks to a donation from a local hospital. The Sandburg nursing program recently received two hospital beds and a gurney donated by Galesburg Cottage Hospital. The donation was accepted late last month. One of the two beds donated will be used in Sandburg’s Simulation Center – where students practice life-saving methods on a Laerdal SimMan – which gives students realistic patient care experiences. The SimMan was purchased as part of the Nursing Challenge Campaign four years ago. During that campaign in 2016, Cottage was a major donor where $120,000 was raised. Dean of Health Professions, Kris Gray said that in addition to the donations, “Cottage also provides invaluable clinical experiences for many of our health programs students.” She added that Sandburg nursing students will benefit from the donations for years to come.
