Galesburg native dies one week after collision

An accident that occurred a week ago turned fatal for a Galesburg native. On Saturday, February 8th, around 9:00 pm, a head-on collision in the 2100 block of West Farmington Road near Peoria sent 46-year old Galesburg native, Mona J. Rodriguez to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. According to a press release from Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, Rodriguez succumbed to her injuries a week later and died. The treatment that Rodriquez received over the past week was described as “aggressive” according to Harwood. She was pronounced dead on Saturday, February 15th at 7:12 pm – one week after the collision. Rodriguez died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The coroner said toxicology is still pending. There is no update on the injuries or condition of the other driver or any passengers.
