Shell casings found by GPD investigating “shots fired” call

Four shell casings were recovered by Galesburg Police following a “shots fired” call Thursday night.

Officers responded to the 1,000-block of East North Street for the complaint at around 10:01. Once on scene, police reports say that officers spoke with several neighbors in the area who advised hearing four gunshots.

One witness advised she also heard car tires squealing but was too scared to look out of the window.

Officers spoke with a witness who advised they saw a male subject wearing acid-washed jeans and a dark hoodie, standing at the corner of North Street and Blain Avenue, fire three or four gunshots before running to the east.

They said that the subject entered a vehicle near the corner of North and Lincoln streets before driving away.

Investigators recovered the four shell casings in the area.

No arrests have been made in the case.
