Keep busy this weekend with plenty to do for everyone

The Galesburg Public Library is offering an After Hours Nerf Lock-In on Friday, January 17th. Held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the Nerf Lock-In is a steam-punk-themed Nerf challenge open to teens ages 12 to 18. You can bring your own Nerf gear, and advance sign up and permission slips are required. For more information, visit the library’s Reference Desk.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest is being held Saturday, January 18th beginning at 10:00 am. The annual event is being held at Costa Catholic Academy. The competition is open to all boys and girls ages 9 to 14. For more information, call 337-8664.

The Avon Fire Department is hosting its annual soup supper on Saturday, January 18th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The cost is a free-will donation, and the menu includes chili, vegetable soup plus desserts and a drink with proceeds to benefit the department.

The Abingdon Community Center is hosting Musicfest Saturday, January 18th beginning at 5:00 pm. The lineup will include several singers playing and singing country gospel music. Refreshments will be served and a free-will offering is appreciated. All proceeds benefit the community center.

Hidden Hills Vineyard and Winery are celebrating it’s one year anniversary Saturday, January 18th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The celebration will feature music by Chris Tarpley the Piano Man from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. There will be free wine tastings plus food and drink specials.

On Sunday, January 19th the ICCA Cheerleading Invitational will take over Knoxville High School. The doors will open at 10:00 am and the competition begins at 11:00 am.
The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students.
