Indianapolis duo get another continuance for 2018 Walgreen’s robbery

A pair from Indianapolis have had their federal case, accusing them of robbing the Fremont Street Walgreen’s in Galesburg at gunpoint in 2018, continued once again last month.

The earliest 19-year-olds Davia A. Barbee and Gates I. Sisk would face a jury now would be on March 9, almost 15 months after being charged.

This is the ninth continuance request by the defendants’ attorneys with the government not having any objections.

The Knox County State’s Attorney dismissed charges and federal prosecutors took over the case in November 2018.

A federal grand jury handed charges to Sisk and Barbee that included robbery, possession with the intent to distribute oxycodone, Adderall and methylphenidate and possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a robbery.

Both of them are being housed at the Knox County Jail and both have had separate charges filed against them while they’ve been in Knox County custody.

Sisk was charged in May with aggravated battery, damage to government property and resisting a correctional officer.

Barbee was charged on December 26 with aggravated battery
