‘Rollie’ Paulsgrove expected to be approved as County Board member

The Knox County Board is expected to seat a new member on Monday who happens to be a veteran of local politics.

Roland “Rollie” Paulsgrove is who the Knox County Republican Party has decided to put forward for a full board vote Monday night according to Knox County Clerk Scott Erickson.

Since the resignation is of Republican Patrick Harlan from District 1, the Republican Party is allowed to caucus and put forward a candidate that’s a registered Republican and lives in District 1.

That person then has to be approved by the full board.
Typically the full board approves whoever the party puts forward.

In recent years Democrats Tara Wilder and Kyle Rohweder were unanimously approved by the full board, once selected by their parties.

Paulsgrove served as a Galesburg alderman for 16 years, a 12-year-stint representing Ward 1 and another term representing Ward 7 from 2003 to 2007.

Paulsgrove also ran for Mayor in 2009, finishing third to Sal Garza.

He even served a term on the County Board from 2010 to 2014, but then lost a re-election bid by the slimmest of margins.
