Monmouth Fire, Police partner with Smithfield to spread holiday cheer

Last week Monmouth Police and Fire joined Smithfield Fresh Meats to bring some holiday cheer to the Maple City.

Smithfield Fresh Meats – the largest employer in Monmouth – donated a truckload of holiday hams to the community after local police identified numerous homes that could use some extra cheer this year.

Uniformed Police and Fire officers went door to door throughout town to present the hams and wish families a Happy Holiday.

Police Chief Joe Switzer said, “We are very grateful to have a local employer who cares about the community and can help to make a difference in so many homes this holiday season.”

Switzer added that homeowners and families reacted with enthusiasm and surprise and all shared a common theme of smiling faces.
