Conger Street house, vehicle damaged by gunfire

A house and a vehicle on Conger Street were damaged by gunfire Thursday evening.

Galesburg Police responded to the 1400-block of Conger at around 6:50 for damage to a residence and vehicle. Once on the scene, victims advised that the house and vehicles had been struck by gunfire.

Bullet holes were observed in the vehicle’s front and rear passenger doors, as well as windows on the vehicle. Bullet holes were observed in the southside of the house, penetrating the exterior walls and striking interior ones.

Officers reported finding 40-caliber shell casings on the scene.

Several neighbors in the area told officers they’d heard between five and seven shots. A silver and gray car was also observed driving westbound on Conger after the shots were observed.

Reports indicate that there was a “shots fired” incident earlier in the day on East North Street and Duffield Avenue.

It is uncertain if the two incidents were related.
