Gun reported stolen from Galesburg residence

A firearm was reported stolen from a Galesburg residence and a teenager was arrested for the theft.

According to a Galesburg Police, officers were dispatched to the 900-block of East North Street at around 10:45 Wednesday night where a firearm had been stolen by a juvenile and subsequently stolen again by another juvenile.

The firearm’s owner identified a 16-year-old teen as the thief with the teen allegedly admitting it to officers. The teen told police he stole the gun so that he could sell it to another 16-year-old juvenile.

The teenager told police that when the other juvenile arrived to buy the gun, it was pointed at him by the supposed buy and stolen again.

The gun was described as a .40 caliber Springfield Armory handgun.
