Business Bullpen panel this week for entrepreneurs

There’s an after-hours networking event this week that will feature a panel discussion on entrepreneurship. The Business Bullpen is a collaboration between the University of Illinois Extension and the Six County Entrepreneurial Support Network and will be held Thursday, November 7th at Cedar Creek Hall in Galesburg. Successful local small business owners will address the opportunities and challenges of starting a new business and building an existing business. The panel will include Michael Acerra of Galesburg, Ron and Teri Pankau of Galva, and Sue Sagmoen of Kewanee. The Acerras at the creates of Lux Blox LLC – a diverse line of block-like construction toys used for play or for education. They are a great resource for those interested in starting a company from the ground up. The Pankaus own John H. Best & Sons – a steel fabricated products job shop making steel parts and display racks in Galva – a good resource for someone looking to buy an existing business. Sue Sagmoen has owned Heartfelt Gifts Inc for 25 years. Her gift shop carries a wide line of products including home decor, women’s fashion and accessories, silk flowers, and custom framing.
Sue transitioned from a knitting business into this gift shop as demands changed. The event Thursday, November 7th begins at 5:30 pm with appetizers and a cash bar – the panel guests will begin at 6:00 pm. The cost is $10, and reservations can be made at Eventbrite.com.
