A Galesburg woman was fatally struck by a train Monday night on tracks in the area of Ella Street and North Pearl Street.
GPD say that 40-year-old Carrie Louise Miller was the victim.
Officers responded initially to BNSF tracks at E. North and N. Chambers St. around 8:30 p.m. based on reports that a pedestrian was struck.
On arrival a witness told officers that the incident had occurred at Ella and Pearl.
Police found Miller deceased when they arrived.
A witness said he had been walking with the victim and they were crossing the tracks when Miller fell as she was crossing when the train began to move striking her.
Police are continuing to investigate.
