One dead in McDonough Co. traffic accident

One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in McDonough County overnight.

The Illinois State Police say that at around 12:07 on Friday, a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling south on US 67 about a half-mile north of Industry when the unnamed driver drove off the west side of the highway.

According to a release from ISP, the driver overcorrected and ran off the east side of US 67, causing the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to a rest on the east side of 67.

One of the two occupants in the vehicle was ejected and later pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the second occupant was not released.

ISP has not identified who was driving. Charges are pending, according to the report.

Assisting the State Police were the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, McDonough County Coroner’s Office, McDonough County States Attorney’s Office, Industry Fire Department, Life Guard Ambulance, Life Flight Air Ambulance, and Cale’s Towing.
