OSF St. Mary names Henry County native as new president

OSF St. Mary Medical Center has named its new president in Lisa DeKezel, a woman already familiar with the community as well as rural healthcare.
DeKezel lives in Cambridge, Illinois in Henry County, attending school there and now lives with her husband Damian.

They have a blended family of 8 children, 11 grandchildren with another due to arrive in November.

The previous St. Mary president, Jennifer Junis, took a different role in the OSF Healthcare organization in July, and is now senior VP for OSF St. Gabriel Digital Health.

DeKezel last worked as  vice president of Physician and Outpatient Services at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.

She tells WGIL that it’s becoming incumbent on hospitals to ensure access to healthcare, especially in rural areas, an effort she lead at Hammond-Henry.

“We look at the Western Region for OSF to really build a collaborative system to ensure that access points and all systems of care are available to our patients in order to provide a full system of care for our rural communities, critical access hospitals, and our acute and immediate care facilities such as St. Mary,” DeKezel says.

DeKezel will start as OSF St. Mary President on November 18.
