Man charged with burglary in Knoxville for power tools theft

A 19-year-old man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing power tools from a Knoxville apartment complex.

Daiton Pierce was arrested last Tuesday after the tools missing from a unit in the Lincoln Apartments at 301 E. Main St in downtown Knoxville, turned up in a car registered to him.

The victim reported that sometime over the weekend someone had entered a vacant apartment where he stores a large number of power tools, and taken them.

He lead officers to a Pontiac Grand Am outside the complex in which something in the back seat was being hidden with a blue tarp that was also believed to have been stolen.
Pierce would give officers consent to search his car where the stolen power tools were found, including; a nail gun, some air hose, a compound miter saw, a 2-gallon air compressor, to name a few.

Pierce would later confess to police to taking the tools, describing in detail where he had taken the tools from the room.

He is being charged with felonies of burglary and theft.

Police reports indicate that Pierce was staying at the complex, although his listed address is for Country Elms Estate, near the Galesburg/Knoxville city limits.

Police reports don’t list an exact value amount for the property Pierce allegedly stole but according to the charges he faces, it was greater than $500.
