Changes coming to Galesburg’s Chamber of Commerce

Things are changing with the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

In a letter to chamber members, Board Chairman Chris Bayer says that the organization has assembled a search committee for the next Executive Director.

He says they’ve already received applications and resumes for the position and will conduct a thorough search for the right person to lead the chamber.

Additionally, he announced that the City of Galesburg was drafting documents to spin the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitors Bureau into its own entity with its own Board of Directors.

He said that communicating with the City of Galesburg and Mayor John Pritchard to evaluate how best to structure the CVB and Chamber to focus on their own missions while working toward one vision of creating, quote, “a region of thriving businesses, vibrant communities, and talented people.”

He says that the chamber, convention and visitors bureau, and the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development will continue working and collaborating to support the economic vitality of the region.
