The Taste of Galesburg returns Thursday, July 25th for its 33rd year. The popular, family-friendly event held on Simmons Street between Seminary and Prairie Streets in Downtown Galesburg begins at 4:00 pm and runs until 10:30 pm. This year will feature food and drink from 24 local eateries. Organizer Deb Cratty tells WGIL there are some new additions this year like City Limits, GloBar, Charred 51, Jimmy’s, The Whiskey Barrel, and the Knox County Brewing Company. The beer garden has been relocated to parking lot G – across from the former Carriage House and will have live entertainment beginning at 4:00 pm. There is also plenty of free activities for kids. “We have face-painting and Discovery Depot (Children’s Museum) always joins us for an activity,” Cratty said. “We of course of the “slam dunk” for the kids. It’s nice because it’s all free and you can go back there and have the kids play and sample the food while they’re playing. (It’s) definitely, something to bring the family out to.” Entrances to the Taste of Galesburg will be on Seminary and Kellogg streets. Gate fee is $5 – children 12 and under are free. Food tokens are $1 apiece – and most food items are between one and four tokens. For more information, CLICK HERE.
