POSTPONED: City of Galesburg’s Touch-A-Truck returns May 1st

UPDATE:  Due to the weather, “Touch-a-Truck” has been postponed until possibly May 8, depending on availability of participants.

Trucks, tractors, heavy equipment and more are, especially through the eyes of a child, quite impressive – and the chance to come up close and explore larger than life rigs returns this year. The City of Galesburg Park and Recreation Department’s Annual Touch-A-Truck event is May 1st. The event is free, but is geared towards preschoolers to 2nd graders. The hands-on event will feature trucks and equipment of all shapes and sizes from race cars to dump trucks- equipped with radios, horns, sirens, and more. The event has become a great field trip for day care centers, preschools, home school groups, families and elementary school groups. In the past, vehicles and equipment from Ameren, the American Red Cross, Berg’s Towing, Birkey’s, Bolin’s Towing and Repair, G & M Distributors, Galesburg Police and Fire Departments, Knox Country Sheriff Department, UPS has been present. Touch-A-Truck will be held at the Lake Storey Pavilion parking lot with visitor parking available at the Lake Storey picnic shelters. Call the Parks and Recreation Department Office for more details at 345-3683.
