Monmouth man pleads guilty to 2017 murder of Zackery Talley

Drew Pearman appeared in Warren County Court Wednesday morning and surprised the court when he plead guilty to first-degree murder.35-year old Pearman of Monmouth accepted a deal from prosecutors to plea and accept responsibility for the death of 27-year-old Zackery Talley on Christmas Eve 2017.

Talley was killed by a gunshot wound at the 100 block of West 4th Avenue in the Maple City, nearly 16 months ago.

Pearman will be sentenced on June 30 by Judge Anthony Vaupel.

State’s Attorney Andrew Doyle agreed to drop four counts of first degree murder and a firearm attachment, which saves Pearman the possibility of life in prison.

Doyle said as part of the plea he would recommend capping Pearman’s sentence at 40 years, but Judge Vaupel could give him up to 60.
