Amended capital project to be considered by school board

The District 205 Board of Education will consider amendments to the capital project for Lombard, King, Steele, and Galesburg High School at tonight’s meeting.

These amendments are related to the ongoing buildings restructuring that the board approved last year, and include a scope of work for the project.

According to board documents, Lombard and Steele are scheduled to start construction by August of this year to be completed by May of next year.

The ground is scheduled to break for GHS and King in February of 2020 with completion in December. Additionally, the board will consider the application for the health life safety building replacement of Churchill Junior High.

The school board could also approve the 2019/20 calendar.

The proposed calendar would see school start August 5th and run through May 19th – assuming that no emergency days are taken. The calendar did include ten emergency days, an increase from five from the year before.

The board could also be lowering the ticket prices for athletic events in the coming year, to five dollars for adults, three dollars for students.

Additionally, the board will be considering renewing their membership with the Illinois High School Association.

The Board of Education meets at 7:00 p.m. at the Harrison Street district offices.
